Solution: Follow a few easy rules in everyday life with your dog for an improved response and if your consistent over time he will always come when called!
1. Don’t over use the word ‘COME’, use it only in controlled training scenarios so when you really need to use it your dog will actually respond!
2. Never call your dog to ‘COME’ , if you don't think he is going yo respond, only say ‘COME’ when you know your dog is going to respond
3. Give the word COME a positive association by always rewarding your dog for coming e.g. a yummy treat, a game of tug, a game of fetch, a nice belly rub, then release your dog to go back to what he was doing so he doesn't associate the word COME with the end of an activity
4. Never say the word ‘COME’ or your dogs name in an angry voice or he will surely learn to avoid you
A dogs recall can be retrained and improved and perfected, it takes consistency and time, don't expect results in a week or even a month.
Does your dog look this excited when you tell them to COME? Practicing Recall should be fun and exciting!!!
